Colour and Style Tips by Susan - SZDesigns Image Stylist

The latest fashions have hit the shops and your best colours haven’t made it to this season’s colour palette! So, what do you do now?

Look back at your colour swatch (provided by SZdesigns of course!) and venture out to uncover all the other fantastic colours that you can wear that you just haven’t discovered yet.

The further away from your face that you wear a colour the easier it is to wear. This means you can include those ‘not so you’ colours on the lower half of your body and maybe balance with some accessories on the top.

Accessories can be a saviour when it comes to colour compromise. They can expand the versatility of your clothes. Casual clothing can quickly become business attire and a conservative suit can receive a fashionable edge. However, the rules of accessories must always be considered when it comes to their application, no matter when.

1. They must remain in sync with current trends
2. They must attract attention to your best features
3. They must be in balance with your scale.

Try also to keep you accessories in balance with the colours and textures that this season brings.
By simply limiting your colour selection in your garments, you can lightly add the essential trends of this season with your accessories by way of colour or texture. This affect can be achieved by focusing more on the colour of your accessories not just the metallic factor.

Accessories can give the most mundane outfit sophistication, flair and individuality in seconds.
In order to master the art of accessorising you need to climb out of any rut you may be in - try and play. Be adventurous, learn to trust your instincts.

It is all about being stylish, flattering and current when you are looking for the perfect outcome with embellishments, remembering that for most women stylishness will be born out of knowing when to stop.

Colour and Style Tips #1
brought to you by Susan from www.szdesigns.com.au

“Does my butt look big in this?” “I have nothing to wear!”
“Does my tie match this shirt?” “How do I dress Business Casual?”
“I hate shopping!” “What shoes should I wear with these pants?”

I know many men and women who have said these things at some stage in their life. We often wish we looked like someone else simply because we have not yet realised our own shape and colouring.

By knowing our body shape, by understanding some basic elements of style, line and design, and by becoming aware of some coordination techniques, we would not be asking any of the many questions we pester our family and friends with each day.

Style is knowing what it takes to get YOUR look.
It is not keeping up with fashion; it is not trying too hard to get it right; it is not having to explain what you wear; it is not dressing like someone you are not. Style is simply a great fit that suits you and your personality, that is appropriate for the occasion.

The way you dress tells a lot about you and how you see yourself. Your garment selection needs to not only suit you but also reflect the suitability of the occasion for which you are dressing. Dress codes should always be understood and adhered to in order to avoid disrespect by way of poor personal presentation.

Colour choices can indicate our mood and expectations. Colour is the first thing noticed about you. Wearing colours that are unflattering to your natural skin tone can sabotage your entire image. Colour should be used as the basis for your wardrobe organisation to maximize its flexibility. Careful colour choices can add or remove ki-los by making you look larger or smaller. Solid colours can make you look thinner and taller, yet bright colours can make parts of the body look larger, as can some patterns by exaggerating size.

Guys, don’t make your stomach look larger by wearing the wrong tie, and girls, if you want to look slimmer go for as many vertical lines as possible.

Work at creating an impressive image and get YOUR look!

Professional Image Tips given by Susan Williamz of SZdesigns Image Consultant
of www.szdesigns.com.au

How often do you take just 60 seconds to look yourself over prior to walking out your door each day?

How often has a lack of personal attention cost you something? Do your have a full length mirror?

Let me introduce you to a number of all time image breakers that can completely ruin in seconds, an otherwise healthy first impression. Keep in mind that first impressions are not just something you should consider in the business world. You may believe there to be more at stake when it comes to first impressions at work, however, think of anytime when you make judgements on people you see simply walking down the street.

Guys, absolute number one on my list has to be the shoes.
Scuffed, worn shoes just don’t cut it in the professional world. Whenever men ask me about their visual image I always comment on the importance of their shoes - and ladies the same also applies to you. Guys, do yourself a favour and read on for the remainder of the list.

Now, for the girls, it has to be your underwear!
Visible underwear or underwear lines have got to be the worst in my book! If you are feeling guilty here, maybe you need to call me so we can discuss my Briefs and Bras workshops. After you read through the Image Breakers for the guys, I know you will want to see what you need to avoid so read on for your list.

Look Good and Feel Fabulous
Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

One of the biggest problems women face today is that they do not know how to properly dress for their body types. As women, there is always something that we do not like about our bodies. But if you know how to correctly address your “problem” areas, then your confidence will increase and your inner beauty and personality will come shining through.

The key to looking good and feeling fabulous is to dress for your body shape.

This can often be tricky, so it is important to dress for your particular shape and not what you think looks good on the hanger.

So, what is your body shape? Are you petite? Athletic? Curvaceous? Tall? Top heavy? Or, maybe you consider yourself to be pear shaped. Whatever shape, height or form you are, know that you are perfect. Yes, perfect as you are.

However, you can improve both your confidence and appearance by simply taking charge of what you wear. Although most of us don’t exactly fit into one category, we usually have a primary body shape. and using care, can accent our best features and create a proportionate look. Take a good look at yourself in the mirror. What stands out the most? What part of your body would you like to accentuate? What part would you like to camouflage?

Tips when shopping for clothes

The biggest key of all is to wear clothes that fit properly. Regardless of being tall, short, curvaceous or slender, apparel that is either too baggy or too tight will not do you justice.

Another tip that applies to all body shapes is to avoid buying an item of clothing just because it’s the latest fad. Not every trend works on every body type. Instead, purchase classic clothing in more modern cuts and accent your base wardrobe with a few pieces of trendy clothing that are appropriate for your body.

Forget about size. Accentuate the positives and dressing to suit your figure is the only way to look your best. You may dislike your tummy but love your legs. Or think your bust is perfect but your hips are too wide. Dress for success every time by flaunting the best bits.

When wearing prints, a larger print should be worn where you want people to look and smaller print where you do not want them to look. An all over print can camouflage figure problems, but scattered prints here and there can create a fuller version of you. Prints around the neck and over the shoulder can make your shoulders appear wider. Wear prints near the parts of your figure’s assets, because they are usually more eye catching than a solid color.

And don’t forget the shoes. Heels will elongate the legs and add shape to your calves. Shoes with straps will shorten the legs.

Finally, wear a well supporting bra and undergarments. Many lingerie companies now manufacture a wide range of under wear that can alter your body shape in an instant. Why not give them a go?

Ensure your wardrobe fits and flatters. Feeling good about what you wear will do more for your confidence than any optical illusion you might create.
